Frequently asked questions about Microsoft 365
What is the difference between Microsoft 365 and Office 365?
They are the same product. Microsoft rebranded Office 365 as Microsoft 365 in April 2020. The content is identical: the same Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), the same OneDrive storage and the same services. Whether you search for “Office 365” or “Microsoft 365”, it is the same subscription.
Does Microsoft 365 include Copilot (AI)?
Yes. Since 2024, Microsoft includes Copilot in every Microsoft 365 Personal, Family and Business subscription. Copilot is Microsoft’s AI assistant integrated into Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams. It works with natural language instructions: you can ask it to summarise a document, analyse a data table or create a complete presentation.
What happens when the 12 months run out?
When the 12 months end, the subscription expires and you lose access to the desktop applications and the additional OneDrive storage. Your files in OneDrive are preserved but you cannot upload new ones if you exceed the free 5 GB. To renew, simply purchase another 12-month code and redeem it in your Microsoft account. 12 additional months will be added.
Can I use Microsoft 365 on both PC and Mac?
Yes. Every Microsoft 365 subscription includes the applications for Windows PC, Mac, iPhone, iPad and Android devices. You can sign in on any device with your Microsoft account and have Office installed on all of them. The Personal plan allows 1 active device simultaneously, Family up to 6 (one per person) and Business Standard up to 5.
Can I share Microsoft 365 Family with people who don’t live in my house?
Yes. Despite the name “Family”, you can share the subscription with anyone. Each of the 6 people receives their own Microsoft account with 1 TB of independent OneDrive, their own Office applications and their own settings. They do not need to live at the same address.
Can I stack codes to get more than 12 months?
Yes. You can buy multiple 12-month codes and redeem them one after the other in the same Microsoft account. The time accumulates. For example, if you redeem 2 codes, you will have 24 months of active subscription.
Does Microsoft 365 Business Standard include Exchange and Teams?
Yes. Microsoft 365 Business Standard includes Exchange Online (business email with 50 GB mailbox and custom domain), Microsoft Teams (business edition with webinar features), SharePoint Online (intranet and document management), and the additional applications Access and Publisher. It is the ideal choice for freelancers and SMEs that need professional tools.

Is Microsoft 365 better than Office 2024?
It depends on what you need. Microsoft 365 is better if you want the latest version of Office at all times, need 1 TB of cloud storage, want built-in AI with Copilot and use multiple devices (PC, Mac, mobile). Office 2024 Professional Plus is better if you prefer to pay once and not depend on a subscription, do not need extra cloud storage and use Office on a single Windows PC only.
